In a career that lasted more than 50 years, he influenced the development of several music genres. The central progenitor of funk music and a major figure of the 20th century, he is referred to by various honorific nicknames, some of which include "the Hardest Working Man in Show Business", "Godfather of Soul", "Mr. Edwin Starr had a crossover hit with "War" & some disco hits later on.James Joseph Brown (– December 25, 2006) was an American singer, record producer, bandleader and actor. She went on to record singles all through the 1970s which are worth checking out like her 1972 version of BARRET STRONG'S classic "Money" with it's heavy handclaps & she sings backing vocals on "EXILE ON MAIN STREET". She still has a bunch of unreleased songs from 1967-69 which if this LP is any indication, is a shame. Sadly this LP like many amazing Soul records only got recognition five years later in the Northern Soul scene. The lead single was a ballad written by Gordy which was an odd choice considering the LP is chalk full of tough danceable hits. They also didn't include some of the strongest songs from album sessions like "Never Give You Up".They stayed unreleased until recent CD & it's one of the best Motown songs recorded after 1966. Genius FRANK WILSON produced and wrote for the album as well as songs by DAVID PORTER/ISAAC HAYES, LEWIS SISTERS (wrote for H.B.Barnum, Patrice Holloway, Martha & Vandellas, Sweet Inspirations etc) and They did a killer version of Starr's own "Oh How Happy" that he wrote for Shades Of Blue. They were very successful with duet records in 67-68 so they paired her with EDWIN STARR. She was getting the Motown treatment to become their next big star.

She moved to Detroit to work with Motown and released one 45 in 1968 with amazing B side written by ED COBB ("TAINTED LOVE", "BREAKAWAY", CHOCOLATE WATCHBAND etc). She released both Gospel with THE COGIC SINGERS (BILLY PRESTON,GLORIA JONES) & Secular Soul records on Atlantic, Veejay & more while living in LA in the mid 1960s. Everyone knows EDWIN STARR (as they should) but BLINKY a.k.a SONDRA WILLIAMS is still being discovered.

EDWIN STARR & BLINKY "Just We Two" 1969 Tamla (Gordy U.S.) FRANK WILSON PRODUCTION! MOTOWN - we don't need another SUPREMES reissue, FREE BLINKY FROM THE VAULTS! This LP is one of the best Motown albums released.
